In the summer of 1991, in a second-hand bookstore, on a bookcase full of 25¢ paperbacks, I found Rat Race.

I had never read a Dick Francis novel. I had no interest in horses, and had never bothered to look at his novels. But, 25¢? Why not!

I bought it, read it, and was hooked!

Over the next couple of years, I acquired every Dick Francis book (except for the Lester Piggott biography), and bought each new one as it appeared.

Rat Race

Rat Race is about a former airline pilot who becomes an air-taxi pilot.
